Flat Cassandra has arrived in Cooroy, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
The Holiday Diary of Flat Cassandra
Monday 22nd September 2014
Today I arrived in Cooroy on the sunshine coast of Australia and Caroline collected me from the Post office
Cooroy is in the Sunshine coast hinterland and about 25minutes drive from Noosa and beautiful beaches.
They told me Sunshine Coast is usually warm and sunny but today is cold 20’, cloudy and windy .
Caroline took me to see her 2 horses, Mirage and Malika – who were both dirty because it had been raining and they like to roll. I also loved their 2 dogs Jack and Mana and their 5 chickens – they call them chooks.
Tuesday, 23rd September 2014
Today was much warmer but still windy. Caroline took me with her to town, looking for Kangaroos on the way. They live near a mountain called Cooroy Mountain, which is the core of an old volcano. There are several around here. The kangaroos were there but they were lying down in the sun so it was no good for a photograph. We went down to Noosa River which is very pretty lots of boats there and people picnicking and kids playing and there were lots of HUGE pelicans too.

Wednesday 24th September 2014
This morning there were 2 BIG kangaroos in the paddock behind the house. This is farm land and cows live in that paddock but they share it with the kangaroos who just pass through when they feel like it. They were standing up on their hind legs and watching us carefully. They know they have to watch out for the dogs so even though I could see them clearly we could not get too close. After a while they hopped away.
Other animals that are also in the garden but you can’t usually see them because they are out at a night are possums, echidnas, bandicoots and often there can be snakes. Mana the little dog is very good at warning everyone if there is a snake about.
We had a look around the garden which has big mango and orange trees all in flower so will be starting to get fruit soon.
We also went back in to Cooroy.
Thursday 25th September 2014
In the morning Caroline broke my arm ! Luckily it wasn’t too sore and Caroline soon fixed me up with some sticky tape so I am all better again J
In the afternoon we went down to Noosa. First we saw the BIG pelican I had my picture taken with Sarah who is 16 and is on school holidays at the moment.
Sarah with me at the big pelican - his eyelashes flutter !!
We then tried to go to the beach and even tho it was nice and warm and the sky was blue it was way too windy and I was getting blown all over the place ! We couldn’t stay there but maybe on Sunday.
So we went to collect some brochure s I can saw you some of the other cool things there are to do around here if I was here for longer.
And I loved the fresh berry ice cream. Delicious !!!
Friday 26rd September 2014
Today we had to go on a long drive with Granny and Grandpa to collect Sarah’s older sister Ashley from university. About 1 hour west of Brisbane. It took 3.5 hours to get there but it was lots of very open space and big cattle farms. The country side changed all the way. Sometimes it was hilly , sometimes it was flat, sometimes the roads were windy sometimes they were straight. It was a hot day and lot of the farms were very brown and dry. On the way we stopped for a cup of tea and a typical Australian wooden building (called a Queenslander) in a little country town called Esk.
Can you spot me on the verandah waving at you?
This is with Ashley at Gatton Campus University of Queensland
When we got back quite late I had my photo taken with Sarah, Ashley and Nat (Ashley’s friend) They are all lots of fun and always laughing.

Flat Ana arrived in Sydney and is travelling to Brisbane.
Flat Ana got a bit lost and ended up with Peter and Kerry. They are on their way to Brisbane and are taking Flat Ana on holidays with them. How exciting for Flat Ana. Flat Ana gets to visit Sydney AND Brisbane - two capital cities of Australia. Do you know which states they are the capitals of?
Friday, October 10th:
Hi, just to let you know Ana has had quite an adventure so far, we stayed overnight at the Plantation Motel at Tyndale, Northern Nsw. My family came from around this area and can trace back several generations. We passed by Maclean through sugar fields before heading to Byron Bay lighthouse, the most easterly point of Australia.
We have been staying with our daughter and her family at Enoggera and attended the inaugural Ch9 telethon for the new Lady Cilento Children's hospital. Today we visited the new hospital and took Ana along. We will see what other sites we are visiting before we return to Sydney.
As an aside , Our little grandson had been in and out of hospital for all of his 2.5 years, but is doing well since his kidney transplant last Christmas and is a bit of a celebrity at fundraisers etc and was one of the special guests at the telethon.
Looking forward to sharing more of her adventures with you.
Cheers Kerry
Flat Anna was feeling a bit deflated today and ended up in hospital.

Flat Amelia is on holiday with Cecilia from Yarra Glen. She is currently in Queensland enjoying the theme parks and sunshine. She went to DreamWorld, SeaWorld and I think she got a bit sunburnt. Flat Amelia is now back - thanks Cecilia for the great photos. The Gold Coast in Queensland is a great place for families to visit. There are 4 theme parks to go to. Flat Amelia left Yarra Glen and traveled north for 1000kms by car. The first day she stayed in Coonabarabran in NSW overnight and we then travelled through NSW [which the kids said was a very BIG state]. It was approximately another 900kms and 10 more hours in the car. We finally arrived in Queensland.
We stayed at a resort for 4 nights and visited the beach, Movie World, Sea World and our family who live in Runaway Bay. We are enjoying the warm weather that you expect when visiting QLD.
Flat Amelia also stayed with Cecilia's childhood friend, Fiona and her family, husband Carl, Lamar [23] Tiana [17] Shani [16] Jazmin [14]. They are lovely people who opened up their house for us to stay with them. We have visited the beach, WetnWild, played games, swam in the pool, watched the girls play netball. Flat Amelia stayed up here for 9 days and it will take 20 hours to get back home to Yarra Glen in Victoria.

Flat Antinio has arrived in Laidley and has been on a tour of our little town and also to Lake Dyer on the outskirts of town, he is excited and glad to be of the plane, and looking foward to seeing more of our beautiful Valley over the next week, so keep watck for futher posts :)
