Dear Flat Stanley host,
Thank you so much for hosting a Flat person, based on
the book “Flat Stanley” by Jeff Brown. In the book, a young boy called Stanley
gets flattened when a bulletin board falls on him. This allows him to go on all
sorts of adventures. He even solves a mystery at the local art gallery by
hiding behind a painting. Our Flat people are travelling Down Under to find out
more about Australia.
As you know, I am on a teacher exchange program and am
teaching a Gr. 3 class in King City, Ontario, Canada. The students know very
little about Australia, so I thank you for giving them an insight into where
you live.
Please can you do the following:
·
Let me know when your Flat Person arrives
in the mail by email. The class will be checking off our arrivals with great
excitement.
·
Take your flat person around with you for
ONE week. Take between 5 and 10 photos of the Flat Person in your community.
·
Answer the questions on the following sheet
about where you live
·
Post the Flat Person back to us by October.
Optional:
·
If you wish to send back a
postcard/brochure or something from your location, you are welcome. Please be
mindful that Canada Post is expensive, so this is NOT expected.
·
I am going to set up a blog to trace our
Flat People’s locations. You are welcome to add comments and say hi on this
blog.
Again, thanks a lot. This is much appreciated and the
students are VERY excited to be ‘travelling’ to Australia.
Cheers,
Mary
